Who can apply

  • Texas resident entering college for the first time, with a record of community volunteerism and leadership; all majors are welcome.
  • Strong candidates typically rank in the top five percent of their graduating class and have SAT scores of 1440 or ACT scores of 32 or higher. Test score submission is optional and is one part of a holistic review, not an unconditional minimum.
  • Submit the UT San Antonio admission application, authenticate the myUTSA ID, complete the general Scholarship Hub application and submit the separate Top Scholar application; verify the reference is complete.
  • Complete the program application by December 1, 2026. The university admission application must be fully received in the system before the program application can be processed.
  • To continue, maintain at least a 3.50 UT San Antonio GPA, live on campus, complete 30 hours each academic year, undertake at least one community service and leadership development project annually, and participate actively in the program.
  • The scholarship is last-dollar funding, so the payment depends on covered costs and other aid; it is not a guaranteed cash award.

About the scholarship
