About the scholarship
UMBC offers general merit scholarships of $1,000 to $15,000 per year for incoming first-year students, including in-state, out-of-state, undocumented, DACA and international students. Selection considers academic records, individual grades, high school programs and SAT or ACT scores when provided. For fall 2027 entry, apply for admission by November 1, 2026, for guaranteed automatic merit scholarship consideration; later reviews depend on available funding. No separate application is required for general merit awards. Separate Scholars Programs have their own applications and deadlines.
