Public-health scholarships can depend on the format of the degree as well as the field. An Executive MPH award is not automatically available to a two-year MPH student, and a research placement for established professionals is not necessarily a scholarship.
This selected guide uses Yale’s current institutional awards to show the distinctions. They are not portable funding for another university.

Choose the program before counting the award
Ask whether the award is attached to your exact format, track and start term. Write those details beside the offer. Do not assume changing from executive to full-time study leaves funding unchanged.
A hypothetical government employee interested in health informatics might fit more than one review category, but should not assume awards can be combined. Ask the school for the actual package and combination rules.
For a statement, explain a genuine work or learning question and the training needed next. Do not invent population-health outcomes or disclose private records to make an example persuasive.
Compare remaining costs—not only tuition
Build a budget for your actual schedule: tuition, fees, travel, lodging, insurance and living expenses relevant to you. A tuition percentage does not apply automatically to every cost. Ask how support is divided across credits or terms and what happens after withdrawal, deferral or a program change.
Keep pending applications separate from confirmed funds. Yale’s MPH aid policy requires reporting additional support such as scholarships, employment and other resources; ask how a specific outside award affects your individual package. Yale aid policy.
A fellowship application is not proof of funding
Harvard’s Takemi Program is accepting 2027–28 applications through December 31, 2026, but targets mid-career researchers with completed graduate degrees and other preparation. The program application is not evidence of a portable student tuition award. Read its funding arrangements separately before treating participation as affordable. Takemi eligibility and funding section.
Similarly, conference, advocacy-day and research-travel assistance should stay in separate budget categories from degree scholarships.
Questions to ask the school
Ask which admission and funding forms are separate; which date controls priority consideration; whether the amount is total or annual; and what enrollment, employment or academic conditions continue after selection. Save the written answer with the current offer.
Your next step is to identify the actual MPH format, verify one matching award and request the current complete terms—not compare schools using maximum advertised scholarships alone.
