Landscape-architecture scholarships may depend on degree accreditation, academic year, financial need or specific applicant conditions. Start with your exact program rather than assuming all design or environmental degrees qualify.
The selected routes below come from LAF and ASLA. Their scholarship, mentoring and conference benefits are different, and a current employer application is not the student’s application.

| Program | Who should investigate | Published support/status |
|---|---|---|
| LAF Student Scholarships | Eligible U.S./Canadian undergraduate/graduate students under named award rules | 2027 applications open November 2026, due February 1, 2027; individual amounts vary |
| ASLA Council of Fellows Scholarship | Eligible U.S. citizens/permanent residents in years 2–5 of a LAAB-accredited undergraduate program | $10,000 top award and $5,000 runner-up awards; confirm new-cycle offering |
| LAF Ignite | Currently specified Black/African-American or Indigenous landscape-architecture students | $10,000 annually plus paid internship/mentoring; current student cohort selected |
A foundation-wide annual pool is not an individual award amount. LAF says offerings are still being finalized before the November call; read the new named-award pages when published.
Accreditation and degree stage are not interchangeable
Council of Fellows excludes graduate students and non-baccalaureate MLA students under its current rules. It requests need information, recommendations and an original essay, and expects conference attendance with registration/travel support. Council award criteria.
Write your degree, accreditation, current year and remaining study beside the lead. Ask the sponsor about an unusual combined program instead of assuming a master’s title fits an undergraduate award.
Its page conflicts on the maximum number of runners-up. This guide deliberately does not promise a particular award count. Verify the new-cycle rules rather than choosing the larger number.
Multi-year support includes participation
Ignite combines scholarships with internships, mentoring and peer meetings. Its page says eligibility may broaden in future years, but presently specifies the applicant groups above. A planned expansion is not current eligibility. Ignite program.
Ask about expected participation, academic progress, internship schedule and renewal. Do not count every possible year before reading an actual offer.
A hypothetical student could explain a real design/research interest and why mentoring matters without inventing leadership impact or misrepresenting an applicant condition.
The open form may be for an organization
Ignite’s current November 9 deadline is for organizations seeking to host a summer 2027 intern. Its page simultaneously describes students already selected for the current cohort. Do not submit the host-provider application as though it were a student scholarship. Current page/form context.
Verify applicant type, funded term and actual portal before sending personal information.
Prepare design evidence accurately
Explain the brief, site question, constraints, your contribution and limits. Distinguish a concept from a built project and projected benefits from measured outcomes. Credit collaborators and protect sensitive site/community information.
For need-based materials, report resources and costs accurately. Ask your aid office how an external award affects your package. Record payment recipient, eligible expense, renewal and obligations, keeping pending funding separate from confirmed money.
Next step
Confirm degree/accreditation and applicant category, prepare truthful evidence, and return to the actual November student call—not the employer-host form.
