The selected providers below include design-focused and print-industry routes. Some latest published cycles are closed; they are included with that status so you can research the next application without mistaking an old deadline for a current one.

Check what “graphic design” means to the sponsor

A portfolio-based design award and a print-industry scholarship can have different goals. Ask whether your program and career plan match the provider’s actual requirements.

PGSF’s current application announcement describes full-time degree seekers and part-time working students in eligible graphic-communications pathways. Its older scholarship-information page gives broader award figures and a different application platform than the latest announcement. Use the current cycle’s official instructions rather than mixing those pages into one assumed rule. Latest PGSF announcement · Background scholarship information.

AGL states that applicants for its published cycle needed to be high-school seniors planning graphics-related college study, with program-specific GPA and selection criteria. Its past deadline is not an invitation to submit now. AGL application FAQ.

Build a portfolio that explains decisions

Choose work that shows a communication problem and how your design addressed it. For each selected piece, identify the audience, brief, constraints, your role, and the decisions that shaped the result.

A hypothetical poster project might explain how typography and hierarchy helped readers find the main information. A packaging concept might explain legibility and material constraints. You do not need to invent client results or claim a concept was manufactured.

Include process only when the application allows it and it adds useful evidence. Read limits on number of works, file size, media, captions, and anonymous judging before assembling the final submission.

Attribute collaboration and source material

If a piece used team research, a photographer’s image, stock assets, or a client brief, identify your contribution and follow the provider’s rights rules. Do not imply you created every component merely because the final layout is yours.

Check the program’s policy on AI-generated work and assistance. Keep drafts and source records so you can explain the process accurately if asked. Remove confidential client or employer information unless you have permission to share it.

Before submitting a web portfolio, test access without your own login. Verify that links open the intended work and that captions remain readable on the actual review format.

Compare awards without assuming renewal

Record the amount offered to the selected student, eligible expenses, payment recipient, renewal rules, and enrollment period. A program-wide annual award total is not an individual scholarship amount.

If you are switching majors, transferring, or entering a different degree level, ask whether that changes your eligibility. Do not assume a design award is portable to any institution or program.
