In short

Golf-related funding is not limited to college team recruitment, but the routes should not be blurred. Playing golf and working as a caddie establish different experiences. Neither should be assumed to satisfy the other's eligibility rules.

A verified caddie programme

The Evans Scholars Foundation describes its award as full tuition and housing support for qualifying caddies with limited financial means. It identifies caddie record, academics, financial need, and character as core criteria and accepts applications from high-school seniors and college freshmen.

This is not an award for every golfer. Read current application resources for eligible universities, detailed requirements, and the relevant cycle. No current deadline or individual selection guarantee is asserted here.

Choose the right evidence

RouteEvidence to prepare
College team evaluationRequested results, competition context, entry year, and academic interests
Caddie awardActual caddie history and provider-required academic, financial, and character evidence
Other local programmeIts own affiliation and application conditions

Do not send a playing résumé as though it establishes caddie experience. Do not assume a long caddie record establishes eligibility for a team offer.

Make golf results interpretable

For recruiting, label event dates, course and competition context, and result sources. Avoid comparing scores from unlike settings without explanation.

Ask the staff which information it wants before preparing a large packet. Identify a degree you would genuinely pursue rather than selecting a college only for a team connection.

Compare actual financial terms

For any offer, obtain the value, period, covered expenses, payment process, and continuation conditions. Ask how institution or housing requirements affect your plans.

A hypothetical student comparing offers should evaluate remaining costs and academic fit. Do not assume that a full-tuition label includes every expense, or that hoped-for outside awards can simply be added.

Keep the process accurate

Resolve unclear membership, work-history, or school-stage rules before writing. Put unannounced future cycles on a watchlist. Save current instructions and confirmation after submission.

Your next step

Decide whether your strongest relevant connection is playing, caddying, or another documented affiliation. Investigate that route’s actual provider rules before applying.
