Construction engineering, construction management and craft training can lead to the same industry through different educational routes. Scholarship eligibility may distinguish them by degree, accreditation and enrollment stage.
Start with the exact program—not merely the word construction. The selected AGC routes below make that distinction visible rather than presenting every award as interchangeable tuition support.

| Route | Intended education | Published support/status | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| AGC undergraduate scholarship | Eligible construction management/construction-related engineering degree at specified accredited programs | $2,500 annually up to three years; 2027–28 portal open | Read the current application’s exact stage and deadline |
| AGC graduate scholarship | Eligible graduate construction-related study | $3,750 annually up to two years; same current portal | Use graduate criteria, not the undergraduate checklist |
| AGC Workforce Development Scholarship | Eligible craft/technical training | $1,000 annually, renewable up to two years; 2027–28 opens March 1, 2027 | Wait for that route’s own application |
The degree programs identify ABET, ACCE and some ATMAE accreditation. Do not assume every program at a school meets the same requirement. AGC program overview.
Confirm the program’s accreditation and funded stage
Ask your school which accreditation applies to your specific program, then compare it with the sponsor’s wording. Institutional accreditation and a named program accreditation are different questions.
Write down degree title, current year, expected graduation and terms remaining. If transferring, identify the destination and the program that will receive the funds. Do not use a current class label as a substitute for the funded-year condition.
When uncertain, ask: “I am enrolled in (your exact program), with (your accreditation), and expect to graduate (your date). Which application category applies?” Save the response with the current rules.
Do not use a 2014 deadline for a 2027 application
AGC still has a graduate-criteria page that prints November 3, 2014 and old payment instructions. Its current scholarship overview says the 2027–28 portal is open. This guide deliberately does not combine the old deadline/payment details with the new cycle. Historical criteria · Current overview.
Use the actual current portal for the controlling deadline, materials and terms. An official domain alone does not make every page current.
Explain construction work accurately
Choose a real design, scheduling, estimating, site-learning or research example that answers the prompt. Explain the problem, constraints, your contribution and what you learned.
A hypothetical student could describe comparing schedule alternatives in a course project or documenting a supervised site observation. Do not imply responsibility for a built project, contract decision or safety outcome that was outside your actual role.
Protect proprietary estimates, client records, designs and site information. Ask an instructor or employer what can be shared. Remove identifying details rather than assuming scholarship reviewers are authorized to see confidential work.
Compare actual costs and renewal
For each offered award, record amount by year, eligible expenses, payment recipient, supported terms, renewal requirements and the effect of changing programs. The maximum possible multiyear total is not guaranteed on the first day.
Keep tuition and required academic costs separate from tools, certification, travel or other expenses. Verify whether each item is permitted before budgeting it against an award.
AGC links to local chapter scholarship programs. Use the relevant chapter’s current rules; location, school and application requirements can differ. AGC chapter discovery route.
Next step
Confirm degree/accreditation and remaining study, read the current portal, then ask your department and relevant AGC chapter about separate awards. Keep pending applications out of confirmed funds.
