EduCanada’s readable application page says applicants must review each program’s guidelines and may need an institution to apply on their behalf. It also limits individual portal accounts to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Account access is not proof of eligibility for every award. Official application guidance
Choose the route before collecting forms
| Your plan | Official evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Canadian institution | Current institutional and province-relevant awards |
| U.S. degree | Awards explicitly accepting your citizenship and enrollment |
| Overseas exchange/research | Correct outbound program and application sponsor |
No current named award has complete terms verified in this guide. These are research routes, not an available-award table.
Keep residence separate
Record citizenship, actual residence, intended institution and degree level in separate fields. Do not assume a provincial or institutional restriction disappears because you meet a citizenship requirement.
For a hypothetical example, two Canadian citizens planning different study countries should not automatically share the same application list. Ask each provider about the actual destination and program.
Check who submits
If an institution must nominate or apply for you, contact its designated office before preparing an independent submission. Ask about any internal deadline as well as the provider’s cutoff.
Save the current instructions and do not use an old outbound-awards PDF as a live application.
Compare the benefit in the right currency
Once an award is confirmed, identify its stated currency, supported period and permitted expenses. Do not invent an exchange rate or assume a nominal amount covers the same costs in another country.
Keep a budget using confirmed resources and a separate scenario for pending awards.
Next action
Identify the destination and degree, use the official scholarship search and request complete current terms for one relevant program. Add it to a verified shortlist only after the applicant, sponsor and cycle rules are clear.
