In short

A broad mental-health award should not be labeled specifically for bipolar disorder unless its provider says so. Ask whether your actual circumstances meet the current rule rather than relying on a directory tag.

The Quell Foundation’s readable FAQ describes its Fighter Scholarship and a mental-health-professional attestation requirement. Its submission window was March 6–13, 2026, already past as of October 14, 2026. Official FAQ

Ask what documentation is necessary

Quell’s FAQ calls for an attestation of active treatment dated within the specified period. Do not assume a diagnosis alone or a full medical file is what the provider requests.

This article does not diagnose bipolar disorder, recommend treatment or advise changing care to meet a scholarship rule. Discuss clinical matters with an appropriate professional, independently of funding.

An original screening example

Imagine a student finds a general mental-health scholarship through a bipolar-focused search. Before preparing an essay, the student asks whether the program’s current criteria apply and what proof is necessary.

The example does not establish that a particular diagnosis qualifies or that an attestation guarantees selection.

Control the personal narrative

Answer the actual question truthfully and choose what experiences are relevant. Do not invent a recovery milestone or disclose unrelated details because you assume hardship is required.

Keep clinical proof and narrative responses separate and use the designated secure submission route.

Plan without assuming renewal

Quell describes its scholarships as one-time awards, with past recipients able to reapply if eligible. A new application is not an automatic continuation. Budget confirmed support separately from possible future funding.

Next action

Eliminate closed/discontinued routes, verify the next current program and ask about condition and documentation rules before writing. Keep broader academic and local awards in a parallel search.
