In short

Players should run two separate searches: education awards linked to youth-league participation and aid offered by a college. You do not necessarily need a college roster offer for the first route, and making a team does not automatically establish the amount of aid for the second.

Keep baseball and softball conditions distinct. A program explicitly limited to American Legion baseball should not be presented as a softball award.

Program or routeWho should investigateSupport/statusFirst action
PONY Alumni ScholarshipEligible baseball or girls-softball alumni with at least two years in registered PONY programsEight annual regional scholarships; amount not stated; recurring May 1 deadlineConfirm the actual upcoming cycle and participation record
American Legion Baseball ScholarshipEligible American Legion baseball players through department selection$500 department award; selected All-Academic recipients receive additional $2,500 or $5,000Contact the relevant department about current nomination/deadline
NAIA institution-awarded aidEligible recruited/admitted student-athletes under college rulesIndividual amount determined by the institution, not a universal full rideAsk the college for the actual written package

PONY’s page lists U.S. zones and additional international regions. Do not assume one regional scholarship is open to every applicant worldwide. PONY regional structure.

Youth-league awards need records, not recruitment promises

PONY requires an application, activities form, designated essay, official secondary transcript, school acceptance letter, notarized participation confirmation and two recommendations. Its page lists previous winners but does not establish a new cycle’s exact amount or opening. PONY application materials.

Ask the league for your actual participation record early. Do not invent seasons, imply registration in an affiliated program without confirmation, or wait until the last day to obtain a required letter.

American Legion awards become usable after accredited high-school graduation and generally must be used within eight years, excluding active military time. The department and national award layers are separate; not every department winner receives the largest additional award. Legion award terms.

College aid is an individual offer

NAIA says institutions control student-athlete financial aid and may divide a sport’s aid among multiple athletes. A team’s overall allowance is not a promise that one player receives a full grant. NAIA aid rules.

Ask the school about the amount offered to you, covered expenses, renewal, academic conditions, enrollment and roster requirements, and what happens if your circumstances change. Do not apply one association’s rules to another; ask each institution which current rules govern the offer.

Keep admission, eligibility certification, team selection and funding as separate checklist items. A coach’s interest is not the same as a finalized award letter.

Academic recognition is not automatically cash

NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition has academic and enrollment criteria and institutional nomination. The program page describes an honor, not a general tuition payment. Do not add the honor to your budget as though it were a scholarship amount. NAIA Scholar-Athlete program.

Likewise, Little League’s Call Up Grant helps with youth registration fees, not college tuition. Keep that purpose separate from alumni college awards. Little League program description.

Prepare an accurate player and student record

Use truthful team history, academic information and achievements. Identify individual contributions without claiming the whole team’s result as your personal award. Follow actual recruiting/video instructions and do not attempt unsafe new skills to create an application clip.

Compare the remaining college cost after confirmed aid, including required fees, living costs and team-related expenses applicable to you. Keep pending awards separate from money already offered.

Next step

Verify youth-league eligibility and contact two colleges about their current individual aid process. Use official program and school instructions, not assumed universal sport-scholarship numbers.
