Use your College Board account to order an official AP score report through the online score-sending process. Before ordering, confirm whether the college needs an official report now or permits self-reporting for the stage you are in. College Board explains that official reports are used by colleges to grant AP credit or placement. College Board score-sending instructions

Sending the report and receiving course credit are separate steps. The college’s own policy determines how an exam result applies.

Step 1: Identify the purpose

Write down whether you are supplying application information, meeting an enrollment requirement or seeking credit or placement. Then find the college’s instructions for that purpose.

Do not pay for an extra report merely because a general application checklist mentions test scores. Ask which exam, document and stage the college means.

Step 2: Use the correct account

Sign in through College Board’s official site and review the available AP record. If something is missing or appears attached to a different account, use College Board’s support route before creating more accounts or ordering an incomplete-looking report.

Keep your sign-in information private. A scholarship platform or informal helper does not need your password to explain the process.

Step 3: Review what the report includes

College Board says an AP report includes scores from all AP exams taken unless a score has been canceled or withheld. It provides separate procedures for those actions. Read those instructions before assuming you can select individual scores in the ordinary send process. College Board

This article does not recommend withholding or canceling a particular result. Check the receiving institution’s requirements and the provider’s current process.

Step 4: Confirm recipient, timing and current charges

Choose the intended institution carefully and review the order before submitting. Use the live College Board page for current fees and processing options rather than an old blog’s dollar amount.

The provider’s yearly free-send option has a deadline. As of October 14, 2026, its June 20, 2026 deadline is already past; do not present it as an upcoming opportunity. Check the current instructions for any later testing cycle. Free-send information

Step 5: Track delivery and receipt separately

Save the order confirmation and the destination you selected. College Board’s sending page describes checking order status. Then use the college’s process to confirm that the record was matched to your student file. College Board

Do not assume that an order confirmation is identical to a college’s confirmation of credit.

An original example: accepted score, unresolved requirement

Imagine a fictional student whose report has arrived, but the degree audit still shows a writing requirement as incomplete. The student should ask which college policy applies to the particular AP exam and score, and whether any posted credit fulfills that requirement.

The issue may be requirement matching rather than report delivery. This example does not claim a particular exam earns a particular course or number of credits.

Questions to send the college

“For (your exam and score), do you need an official report at this stage? Once received, what credit or placement policy applies, and where should I check that it has been evaluated?”

Attach or transmit only the information the institution requests through its designated channel.

What to do next

Read the college’s instructions, review your College Board record, order only the required report and verify the receiving institution’s evaluation. Save both the sending confirmation and any credit decision.
