When Do Early Decision Results Come Out?

In short

Check the college's official admissions page and your applicant portal. A published notification window is not the same as a newly announced exact date and time.

NYU’s official FAQ lists December 15 for Early Decision I. Duke describes its Early Decision release as around mid-December. Neither statement should be expanded into an unsupported exact 2026 release hour. NYU FAQ · Duke counselors

These are standing official statements, not a claim that all colleges use the same day or that a year-specific release has been confirmed.

Check the right application round

Early Decision, Early Decision II and Early Action are not interchangeable labels. Use the plan shown in your submitted application. A result from another program or a prior year does not establish your schedule.

If your account appears inconsistent, ask admissions to clarify the recorded plan before interpreting a missing notification.

Prepare access, not rumors

Confirm that you can sign in and that the college has the correct contact information. Use the portal instructions rather than a social-media prediction. Do not share credentials with someone offering to check for you.

A missing visual detail in a portal is not evidence of an admission outcome unless the college actually says so.

An original release-day plan

Imagine a student who has seen an unofficial claim about a release time. Instead of rearranging the entire day around it, the student checks official communications and chooses when and with whom to open the result.

The example does not predict whether a portal will be available early or whether an outcome is favorable.

Read the decision before acting

Review the complete letter and instructions. If admitted, examine the applicable commitment and financial-aid information. If deferred, follow the school’s actual update policy. If denied, do not assume an appeal or reconsideration route exists without checking.

This article does not interpret an individual early-decision agreement or authorize withdrawal from it.

What to do next

Save the official window, monitor the designated channel and prepare the questions you will need answered after the decision. Do not replace an unannounced date with a confident guess.
